Am Sonntag, 2. September 2018 gegen 12:00 Uhr ging es wieder los! Das 3. Natur-SUP-Projekt startete auf 2.300 Meter am Salzachursprung! Pascal Rösler von Pure Water for Generations: Auf meinen 2467km im letzten Jahr bis ins Schwarze Meer ist mir eine einfache Frage in all den Stunden auf dem Wasser immer wieder durch den Kopf gegangen: Warum kann ich das Wasser auf dem ich paddle eigentlich nicht trinken? Aus dieser Frage ist nun die Vision für Pure Water for Generations entstanden: Trinkbares Donauwasser in 25 Jahren. Bei diesen SUP-Natur-Projekten geht uns nicht um Höher-Schneller-Weiter, vielmehr soll im Umfeld der Donau für einen bewussteren Umgang mit der wertvollen Ressource Wasser geworben werden. Nach zwei Jahren einer gemeinsamen und erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit gibt die Tecno Unlimited Srl und die Marke Cesare Cantagalli I-99 heute bekannt dass Finian Maynard nicht mehr für die Unternehmen tätig ist.

Finians persönliche und professionelle Einstellung hat in einer erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit den Level der Boards gesteigert. Finian held the position of technical manager coordinating the entire R&D team and factory relationships in collaboration with the management of I-99, creating shapes with impeccable and excellent performance, widely demonstrated by the appreciation of the increasingly demanding clientele on top of the winning tests carried out by international magazines. The meticulous attention to detail that has characterised the work of Finian since the beginning has perfectly integrated with the vision of sport that has always distinguished the brand with the concept of a personal and unique style that will remain the trademark of future I-99 collections. Mit dem Sieg von Iballa Moreno und Victor Fernandez endet der PWA Wave-Worldcup auf Teneriffa. Nach dem Aus von Philip Köster im gestrigen Heat um Platz 4 gegen Jaeger Stone waren für den letzten Eventtag nur noch die letzten drei Heats der Herren Double-Elimination sowie nahezu die gesamte Double Elimination der Damen angesetzt. El Médano, Tenerife, continues to prove itself as one of the best and most consistent wave sailing spots in Europe as results were gained in all categories for the 2018 Tenerife PWA World Cup - sponsored by Bruch Boards - which means Tenerife maintains its 100% record since 2011. Over the course of the week El Cabezo showed numerous sides to itself to give the best wave sailors in the world the biggest challenge it could and at the end of an intense week it is Iballa Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) and Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Duotone / Shamal Sunglasses) that walk away with those all important victories and both now head up the overall rankings in the Women’s and Men’s, respectively.  Women’s Iballa Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) continued her fine record in Tenerife as the reigning world champion claimed victory in the single elimination to complete a superb hat-trick of event victories here. Iballa impressed by landing big backloops, while her wave riding was back on point and she now has destiny in her own hands as she aims for her 5th consecutive world crown. Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) has proven that she has taken her wave sailing to a new level this year by recording her 3rd straight second place of the season, which keeps Offringa on course to break into the overall top 2 for the first time in her wave career. Offringa consistently landed tweaked pushloops, while impressing with her powerful approach to wave riding.  Despite Offringa being ultra consistent this year a maiden wave world title is out of the Aruban’s reach for 2018 with Iballa’s two victories making her uncatchable. The only person who can now stop Iballa is her sister Daida Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) and in order for Daida to deny Iballa she would need to win the final event of the year in Sylt, while also requiring Iballa to finish 3rd or worse. Third place here for Daida definitely wouldn’t have been what the multiple-time world champion was looking for, but she is still in the hunt for her first title since 2013. Elsewhere, Justyna Sniady (Simmer / Simmer Sails / AL360) successfully defender her 4th place from the Single Elimination to record her best result of the season after she reversed the tables from Pozo against Lina Erpenstein (Severne / Severne Sails). Sniady landed some of her biggest backloops in a competition to date, while looking consistent on the wave and she will now be looking forward to Sylt as she aims to better or equal last year’s overall performance - 5th. Lina Erpenstein finishes outside the top 4 for the first time this season - 5th - which keeps the German 4th in the overall rankings with one event to go. The 21-year-old couldn’t always find the jumps she needed this time around, but she really caught the eye with her wave riding as she continues to progress. Steffi Wahl may be a little disappointed to have finished 6th in the end. The German was just seconds away from defeating Erpenstein in the battle for 5th and 6th, but her good friend produced a buzzer beater to end her chances for another year. However, as usual, Wahl impressed with her wave riding as she consistently produced several vert, late hits. Meanwhile, Arrianne Aukes (Fanatic / Duotone / Maui Ultra Fins) remains 5th in the overall rankings after finishing join 7th here Tenerife alongside Ulrike Hölzl (Goya Windsurfing. Aukes produced some of her best heats to date but will have a tough battle on her hands to keep 5th place with Justyna Sniady being her biggest threat. Elsewhere, Maaike Huvermann (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) showed again that with a little bit more training she could soon become a real threat on the PWA Wave World Tour. The Women’s Freestyle Vice-World Champion is already landing stalled forwards and clean backloops while showing she has bags of potential when it comes to wave riding.  Men’s At the start of the week if you’d have told Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Duotone / Shamal Sunglasses) that he would lead the title race heading into Sylt, then the Spaniard probably wouldn’t have believed you having finished 4th Pozo Izquierdo.  However, with all 3 of the then top 3 coming into Tenerife - Philip Köster (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) - 5th - Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing) - 6th - and Ricardo Campello (Brunotti Boards / Point-7) - 4th -  all faltering slightly, Fernandez seizes initiative of the title race after bouncing back in the best way possible by claiming his first victory of the season - which is also the two-time world champions 3rd victory here in the last 4 years. Title Race In terms of the title race, it now looks like a two-horse race between Victor Fernandez and reigning world champion Philip Köster - with whoever beating who in Sylt likely to walk away from 2018 as the world champion. However, Ricardo Campello does still have an outside chance of winning a first wave world title, but in order to do so, Campello would need to win the event while both Fernandez and Köster would have to finish 3rd or worse.  Jaeger Stone (Starboard / Severne / SWOX / Shamal Sunglasses) fought his way back in the Double Elimination to claim his first podium finish since Sylt in 2016. On his way to 2nd place Stone first brought Philip Köster’s come back to an end before also seeing off Ricardo Campello and Adam Lewis (Fanatic /Duotone / SWOX) with one-hand, one-foot backloops and Stone’s explosive style inflicting the damage. Stone’s 2nd place here sees the Australian rise to joint 4th in the overall standings alongside Marcilio Browne - who finished 6th here. Meanwhile, Adam Lewis walks away from his first podium on the PWA Wave World Tour after producing a brilliant performance with his wave riding, in particular, setting him apart. In the Single Elimination semifinal against Ricardo Campello, Lewis earned the only 10 of the contest, while almost earning a perfect wave score heat after landing sick frontside 3s and demonstrating some of the biggest turns of the competition. 3rd place in Tenerife sees Lewis sitting in 6th place in the overall rankings. Jules Denel (JP / NeilPryde) will be very happy with his week's work after recording his first top 10 finish since 2016 - joint 7th. The Frenchman’s most impressive victory came against local legend Alex Mussolini (RRD / RRD Sails) - who surprisingly only managed a 13th place here, which is the first time Mussolini has finished outside the top 10 here. Sharing 7th place is Omar Sanchez (Carbon Art / KA Sail) after the Spaniard produced the comeback of the Double Elimination, which saw Sanchez win 5 heats on the spin against Antoine Albert (Goya Windsurfing), Dario Ojeda (Flikka / Challenger Sails), Josep Pons (Simmer / Simmer Sails) - who retired from the contest through injury, before completing two impressive victories against Alex Mussolini and Marc Paré (Simmer / Simmer Sails) to earn his best result to date on the world tour. Elsewhere, both Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde) and Dieter van der Eyken (Severne / Severne Sails) were able to win 4 consecutive heats in the Double Elimination as they fought back into joint 9th for the second contest in a row, which sees them ranked in joint 8th overall alongside Marc Paré. Meanwhile, Leon Jamaer (JP / NeilPryde) secured the final place in the top 10 - also in joint 9th. Also a mention for 15-year-old Marino Gil (Goya Windsurfing), who after the first two events is ranked 20th overall having claimed an excellent joint 17th in both Pozo and Tenerife. In Sankt Peter-Ording sind vom 15. bis 19. August 2018 die besten deutschen Kitesurfer zu Gast.  In der wohl größten Sandkiste Deutschlands findet das Finale der offiziellen DM-Serie Multivan Kitesurf Masters statt. Aber der Mega-Event in Sankt Peter-Ording ist nicht nur der letzte Tourstopp für die nationale Elite, sondern bietet auch allen Freizeitkitern die Möglichkeit, das neuste Material der Kitesurfindustrie zu testen. Innerhalb des Kitelife Villages präsentieren sich annähernd 30 Kitesurf Marken und stellen ihr 2019er Material vor. An der Wasserkante reihen sich hunderte Boards und Kites an der über 800 Meter langen Testarea. Hier können die Kitebegeisterten die Boards und Kites hautnah erleben. Dabei ist das Testen für die Kiter komplett kostenlos. Einzige Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme am Testbetrieb ist der Nachweis des VDWS-Levels 4 oder einer vergleichbaren Qualifikation. Die Windvorhersage verspricht für das Wochenende noch einmal perfekte Bedingungen, so dass alle Kiter in St. Peter-Ording auf ihre Kosten kommen. Die Deutsche Meisterschaft ist in den Disziplinen Freestyle, Slalom und Racing angesetzt. Besonders am Samstag sagen die Meteorologen optimale Windbedingungen voraus. Dann stehen die Finals im Freestyle und im Slalom an. Besonderes Highlight des Wochenendes wird der Condor BIG AIR Contest. Bei dem Show- und Spaßevent sind vor allem die Sprunghöhe und die Tricks aussagekräftig. Hoch, weit und spektakulär, die Bedingungen am morgigen Tag versprechen so einiges. Board-offs und endlose Rotationen mit Drehwurmgarantie sind garantiert. Nicht nur geübte Profikitesurfer können in dieser Disziplin starten, auch Freizeitkiter, die ihr Können unter Beweis stellen wollen, sind herzlich willkommen, den Luftraum über St. Peter-Ording zu erobern. Die Gewinner in den Kategorien Youth, Men, Women können sich jeweils über einen Condor Flug für sich und eine Begleitperson nach Agadir freuen. Aber auch das Rahmenprogramm kommt am wohl schönsten Strand Deutschlands nicht zu kurz. Den Freitagabend ließen die Besucher bei mitreißender Musik von Projekt Caramba und bebenden Beats des Kieler DJ Beauty & the Beats ausklingen. Für Samstagabend kündigt sich ein DJ Feuerwerk an, das den Besuchern ein einmaliges Erlebnis bieten wird - tanzen und feiern mit den Füßen im Sand. Der Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam 2018 - gesponsert von René Egli – war in diesem Jahr nicht der windigste Worldcup. Aber Fuerteventura lieferte immer noch genug gute Bedingungen, so dass die Freestyler  (Damen und Herren) die Double Eliminations und die Slalompiloten 4 Eliminations unter Weltklasse-Bedingungen absolvieren konnten.

Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / Neil Pryde / Maui Ultra Fins) und Jose 'Gollito' Estredo (Fanatic / Duotone) holten sich in den ersten fünf Tagen den ersten Platz im Freestyle. Offringa konnte ihre ungeschlagene Bilanz mit einem 11. PWA Freestyle World Championship weiter ausbauen, während Gollito die Führung im Titelrennen der Herren Freestylee übernimmt. Im Slalom war Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) unantastbar, als AA alle 4 Eliminations gewann. Slalom Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) extends his remarkable record in Fuerteventura - winning every year here since 2006 except 2012 - with one of his most dominant performances in recent years as the 24-time world champion won all 4 eliminations completed. You have to go back to Alacati in 2012 for the last time someone won 4 consecutive eliminations and that man was Albeau again - which perhaps shows you how great of a feat that it is to have repeated it. Matteo Iachino (Starboard / Severne / Shamal Sunglasses) was the most recent sailor to have come close to doing the same when he won the opening 3 races during the 2016 Sylt PWA Grand Slam, before finishing 2nd in the 4th elimination. Victory here sees Albeau level things up with Matteo Iachino on 40,700 points with one event to go, but the Italian still leads the title race having recorded better results in 3 out of the 5 events, but ultimately it looks like it will come down to a straight fight between the two heavyweights in the final battle of the season in Sylt, Germany, 28th September - 7th October. Iachino, qualified for every Winners’ Final, but a bit of bad luck and one mistake on the opening day saw him have to settle for a 4th and an 8th. The 2016 world champion then bounced back with two solid seconds but couldn’t deny Albeau, but he should be happy enough leaving with a second place here given Albeau’s killer record.  For the 4th time this season - Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / Duotone / Chopper Fins) - completes the podium to cement his place on the overall podium, in a result which means the ‘Big Top 3’ have also completed the top 3 in 4 out of the 5 events this season. The title probably looks out of the question for Mortefon this season unless Albeau and Iachino both have shockers in Sylt, but he’s been right at top of his game again over the last 5 days with a 2nd, 3rd and 2x 4th’s from 4 eliminations. Pascal Toselli (JP / Loftsails / Chopper Fins) remains in 4th in the overall rankings but discards the result here in Fuerteventura after finishing outside the top 10 for the first time this season.  Toselli’s result here combined with Jordy Vonk (Fanatic / Duotone) recording his best ever result in Fuerte - 4th - and also his best result of the season sees the Flying Dutchman close to within 100 points of the Frenchman, while Julien Quentel (Patrik / Avanti) is just a further 100 points back in 6th overall after also finishing 6th here. Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails / Shamal Sunglasses) remains 7th in the overall rankings after recording his best result of the season - 5th. The Brit recovered well from a quarterfinal exit in the first race with an 11th, 5th and then a 3rd, but the wind then ran out of steam to give him a shot of recording a 4th podium finish in a row here. Meanwhile, Cyril Moussilmani (RRD / Severne) and Finian Maynard (I-99) move into the overall top 10 after 8th and 10th place finishes respectively, while Mateus Isaac’s (JP / NeilPryde) 12th place is enough to see the Brazilian keep his spot the overall top 10 - 10th. Elsewhere, Arnon Dagan (RRD / NeilPryde) records his first top 10 finish - 7th - since the opening event of the year, while Antoine Questel (Starboard / S2Maui) follows up his first top 10 of the season in Portugal with a 9th place here - showing the form that he showed last year, while Alexandre Cousin (Patrik / GA Sails / Chopper Fins) also earns his best result of the season - 11th. Ethan Westera (Tabou / GA Sails) also deserves a mention. The 20-year-old suffered a potentially career-threatening injury here this time last year, but showed he’s back somewhere close to his best by claiming 13th place here - qualifying for the top 16 in 3 out of the 4 races completed. Freestyle Women’s Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) extends her incredible unbeaten run on the Women’s PWA Freestyle World Tour to 11 years after winning both events this year to claim her 11th Freestyle world title. The 27-year-old continues to raise the bar for women’s freestyle, and in a year where it was thought she would face her biggest test yet to regain her world title, Offringa has more than risen to the occasion and is still undoubtedly the Queen of Freestyle. Maaike Huvermann (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) and Oda Johanne (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) have both raised their level again, but even though they threatened Offringa in Portugal, neither could really land a telling blow here to trouble the now 15-time world champion (11 Freestyle & 4 Slalom). This season there has been almost nothing between Huvermann and Johanne, but it is Huvermann who walks away with second place to be crowned vice-world champion for the 3rd time in her career, but a coin flip could’ve almost decided that, such was the closeness of their battles.  Arrianne Aukes (Fanatic / Duotone / Maui Ultra Fins) couldn’t trouble the top 3 this time around, but the 31-year-old proved far too strong for the rest of the fleet, which sees her secure 4th place in the overall rankings ahead Johanna Rümenapp (I-99 / Gun Sails / Maui Ultra Fins), who finishes 5th in her debut season. Men’s  8-time Freestyle World Champion - Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / Duotone) - proved himself to still be the man that everyone else has to beat as the Venezuelan once again showed that he has that killer instinct of a champion, while still oozing his usual style.  And with his main rival - Amado Vrieswijk (JP / Severne) - only managing to finish 4th here you would have to think that victory here is a massive step towards Freestyle World title No.9 - especially given the fact that either Gollito or Vrieswijk have won the last 6 Freestyle events between them. Adrien Bosson (Fanatic / Duotone / Maui Ultra Fins) walks away from the opening event of the year with his best ever result on the PWA World Tour - 2nd. The Frenchman has previously finished 3rd in both Austria and Sylt, but went one time better this time around and looks incredibly dangerous. Yentel Caers (JP / Point-7) completes the podium here after producing a series of explosive displays and is firmly in the hunt for his first world title. Caers has not finished outside the top 3 here since 2016 and is now unquestionably one of the main threats on the world tour. Amado Vrieswijk will be incredibly disappointed with 4th place here as with just 2 events on this year’s freestyle tour it looks as though his wait to earn a first world title will go on for at least one more season. And although it seems only a matter of time before the 22-year-old will get his hands on the freestyle world title - the longer he has to wait, the more problematic it could become to shake the monkey off his back.  The top 5 is completed by Antoine Albert (Goya Windsurfing), Dieter van der Eyken (Severne / Severne Sails), Steven van Broeckhoven (JP / Gun Sails) and Jacopo Testa (RRD / RRD Sails / AL360). Albert and Testa both earned their best ever results last year - 7th and 3rd overall - while the two Belgian’s are former world champions who can clearly still mix it with the best in the business. Philip Soltysiak (Starboard / Sailworks), Nicolas Akgazciyan, Balz Müller (MB Boards / Severne), Davy Scheffers (Tabou / GA Sails), Sam Esteve (JP / NeilPryde), Francesco Cappuzzo (RRD / RRD Sails / AL360), Mattia Fabrizi (Patrik / Challenger Sails) and Tonky Frans (RRD / RRD Sails / AL360) complete the overall top 10. Nach sechs Tagen ging am Sonntag der Multivan Surf Cup auf Sylt zu Ende. Bei karibischen Bedingungen konnten neun Wettfahrten in der Disziplin Racing und vier komplette Slalomserien gefahren werden. Der Kampf um die DM-Titel war sowohl in den Einzeldisziplinen als auch in der Gesamtwertung unglaublich spannend. Am Ende lagen mit dem Titelverteidiger Vincent Langer (GER-1), dem dänischen Profi Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24) und dem Flensburger Gunnar Asmussen (GER-2) drei Fahrer punktgleich an der Spitze. Aufgrund der Tiebreak-Regelung rutscht Asmussen dabei auf Platz drei. Der Gleichstand zwischen Langer und Kornum lässt sich jedoch nicht auflösen. Langer kann sich deshalb freuen, dass die "Mission Titelverteidigung" gelungen ist. Er muss sich den Titel „Internationaler Deutscher Meister“ daher mit Sebastian Kornum teilen. „Ich bin unglaublich glücklich, dass es mit der Titelverteidigung geklappt hat. Das war ein hartes Stück Arbeit!“ strahlt Langer. „Wir sind unglaublich viel gefahren. Meine Konkurrenten haben mich dabei bis aufs Äußerste gefordert. Sebastian Kornum ist einer der besten Foil-Racer der Welt und hat hier seine Favoritenrolle bestätigt. Gunnar ist einer der schnellsten Windsurfer der Welt. Ihm hätte ich den DM-Titel auch gegönnt.“ Der Finaltag brachte noch einmal zwei weitere Wettfahrten in der Disziplin Racing. Auch wenn die Rennen spannend waren und die Nerven der Fahrer spürbar blank lagen, führten die Wettfahrten zu keinen gravierenden Veränderungen an der Spitze der Racing-Wertung. So blieb es in den Top-5 bei den Platzierungen von Freitag. Sebastian Kornum belegt mit einer überlegenen Leistung den Sieg im Racing. Als bester Deutscher folgt der Schönberger Nico Prien auf Platz zwei. Damit sichert er sich erstmals in seiner Karriere den DM-Titel in der Disziplin Racing. „Ich freue mich, dass ich an die guten Leistungen der Saison anschließen konnte und bin überglücklich, erstmals einen DM-Titel einfahren zu können. Die Bedingungen waren sehr vielfältig. Von Leichtwind mit Flachwasser bis Starkwind mit Welle war alles dabei. Sebastian hatte in den ersten Tagen einen Vorsprung herausgefahren. Ich habe mich dann darauf konzentriert, meinen zweiten Platz zu halten, um so den Titel zu sichern,“ resümiert Nico Prien. Der Flensburger Gunnar Asmussen haderte am Abschlusstag mit den rauen Bedingungen vor Sylt. Aufgrund seiner hervorragenden Leistungen an den Vortagen kann er sich als zweitbester Deutscher den Vizemeistertitel im Racing sichern. Vincent Langer beendete die Disziplin Racing als vierter. Der Kampf um die Verteidigung des Overall-Titels stand für Langer klar im Vordergrund. Der Schweizer Richard Staufacher (SUI-31) komplettierte die Top-5 in der Disziplin Racing. Im Slalom ist die Entscheidung bereits am Samstag gefallen. Langer zeigte in allen vier Slalomserien überlegene Leistungen. Dreimal siegte er. Nur in einer Elimination musste er dem Italienischen Meister Andrea Cucchi (ITA-1) den Vortritt lassen. In der Slalomergebnisliste siegt Langer so mit der Idealpunktzahl von 2,1. Der Flensburger Gunnar Asmussen überzeugte mit konstant starken Leistungen. So sicherte er sich in allen Slalomserien jeweils Podiumsplatzierungen. In der Slalomergebnisliste kommt er so auf 7,0 Punkte. Das wird mit einem zweiten Platz und damit dem Vizemeistertitel im Slalom belohnt. Der Italienische Meister Andrea Cucchi war der einzige Fahrer, der neben Langer eine Slalomserie gewinnen konnte. Der Däne Sebastian Kornum konnte sich im Veranstaltungsverlauf in der Disziplin Slalom immer weiter steigern. Nach einem fünften Platz im Auftaktrennen und zwei vierten Plätzen, belegte er in Slalom Nummer fünf sogar Platz drei. Mit 11,0 Punkten liegt er nur 0,3 Punkte hinter dem Italiener Cucchi. Nico Prien aus Schönberg komplettiert mit 15,0 Punkten die Top-5 im Slalom. In der Overall-Wertung werden die Ergebnisse der beiden Disziplinen Racing und Slalom kombiniert. Auf dieser Basis wird der prestigeträchtige DM-Titel vergeben. Gleich drei Fahrer liegen punktgleich mit 5,0 Punkten an der Spitze des Klassements: Sebastian Kornum mit Platz vier im Slalom und Platz eins im Racing. Bei Langer ist es gerade umgekehrt. Er punktet mit Platz eins im Slalom und Platz vier im Racing. Der Flensburger Asmussen ist der konstanteste mit Platz 2 im Slalom und Platz drei im Racing. Aufgrund der Tiebreak-Regel fällt er aber hinter Langer und Kornum zurück. Eine Lösung dieses Gleichstandes zwischen Kornum und Langer ist nicht möglich. Damit geht der Internationale Deutsche Meistertitel an zwei Fahrer. Sowohl Vincent Langer als auch der Däne Sebastian Kornum wurden im Rahmen der Siegerehrung als neue Meister gekrönt. Auf dem vierten Platz der Overallwertung folgt Nico Prien vor Richard Stauffacher. Leon Delle (GER-6) gelang es, Michele Becker (GER-277) hinter sich zu halten und so Platz 6 zu sichern. Becker kann sich dafür über den DM-Titel in der Youth-U20 Wertung sichern. Zweitbester Youth ist der Däne Peter Nors (DEN-431) vor Fabian Wolf (GER-404). In der Junior-U17 Wertung siegte Justus Schott (GER-29) mit einem sensationellen 16ten Platz in der Overallwertung. Auf dem zweiten Platz folgt Pepe Beck (GER-272) vor Maximilian Räuchle (GER-2003). Der Multivan Surf Cup Sylt war ein voller Erfolg. Blauer Himmel, strahlender Sonnenschein und gute Windbedingungen ermöglichten Wettfahrten an vier der sechs Wettkampftage. Über 120.000 Zuschauer verfolgten die Rennen der Surfelite vor dem Brandenburger Strand und genossen das reichhaltige Angebot auf der Promenade. Für sechs Tage war Westerland der Nabel der Windsurferwelt. Alle Beteiligten freuen sich bereits auf das nächste Jahr, wenn die Deutschen Meisterschaften wieder in der letzten Juliwoche in Westerland auf Sylt ausgetragen werden. Am Samstag konnten beim Multivan Surf Cup auf Sylt weitere Slalomrennen gefahren werden. So stehen im Kampf um die Deutsche Meisterschaft mittlerweile vier Slalomeliminationen zu Buche. Der amtierende Slalom Europameister Vincent Langer (GER-1) punktete mit einem Laufsieg und einem zweiten Platz. Damit sicherte er sich praktisch vorzeitig den DM Titel in der Disziplin Slalom. „Ich bin überglücklich, dass ich im Slalom dominieren konnte. Wir hatten unterschiedlichste Bedingungen. Von ablandigem Wind und Flachwasser bis zu auflandig und Welle. Bei mir lief es immer gut. Jetzt konzentriere ich mich auf den Finaltag. Da geht es noch einmal um alles!" freut sich Langer. Das wird mit einem zweiten Platz und damit besten Aussichten auf den Vizemeistertitel im Slalom belohnt. Andrea Cucchi war der einzige Fahrer, der neben Langer eine Slalomserie gewinnen konnte. Er hatte die Chance, mit dem vierten Slalom auf Vincent Langer aufzuschließen. Aufgrund eines Fahrfehlers wurde er aber in der ersten Runde disqualifiziert. Trotzdem kann er in der Slalomwertung den dritten Platz mit 10,7 Punkten verteidigen. Der Däne Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24) konnte sich im Veranstaltungsverlauf in der Disziplin Slalom immer weiter steigern. Nach einem fünften Platz im Auftaktrennen und zwei vierten Plätzen belegte er in der fünften Slalom-Elimination sogar Platz drei. Mit 11,0 Punkten liegt er nur 0,3 Punkte hinter dem Italiener Cucchi. Nico Prien (GER-7) aus Schönberg komplettiert mit 15,0 Punkten die Top-5 im Slalom. Für die Disziplin Slalom zeichnen sich damit die Podiumskandidaten ab. Vor dem Finaltag könnte es im Kampf um den Overall-Titel bei der Internationalen Deutschen Meisterschaft nicht spannender sein. Gleich drei Fahrer liegen punktgleich mit 5,0 Punkten an der Spitze des Klassements und haben Chancen auf den Titel: Sebastian Kornum mit Platz vier im Slalom und Platz eins im Racing. Bei Langer ist es gerade umgekehrt. Er punktete mit Platz eins im Slalom und Platz vier im Racing. Der Flensburger Asmussen ist der konstanteste mit Platz 2 im Slalom und Platz drei im Racing. Aufgrund der Tiebreak-Regel fällt er aber hinter Langer und Kornum zurück. Eine Lösung des Gleichstandes zwischen Langer und Kornum ist aktuell nicht möglich. Die Entscheidung um den DM-Titel im Windsurfen ist damit auf die Disziplin Racing am Finaltag vertagt. Die Vorhersagen sind vielversprechend. Bei Südwind mit drei bis vier Windstärken ist mit weiteren Wettfahrten in dieser Disziplin zu rechnen. Die Siegerehrung ist für 17:00 Uhr angesetzt.

Der Surfertraum auf Sylt geht weiter: Fast 30 Grad, strahlender Sonnenschein und fünf Windstärken brachten perfekte Bedingungen für die Windsurf-Elite beim Multivan Surf Cup auf Sylt. Die Kämpfe um den DM-Titel gingen heute in die nächste Runde. Am Freitag stand auch endlich die zweite Disziplin Slalom auf dem Programm. Im Finale konnte der DM-Titelverteidiger und amtierende Europameister seiner Favoritenrolle gerecht werden und siegte. Damit liegen die drei deutschen Topsurfer Gunnar Asmussen (GER-2), Nico Prien (GER-7) und Vincent Langer (GER-1)punktgleich an der Spitze der Overallwertung der Deutschen Meisterschaft im Windsurfen. In einem hochkarätig besetzten Finale konnte sich der Kieler Langer gegen seine härtesten Gegner Gunnar Asmussen aus Flensburg und Nico Prien aus Schönberg durchsetzen. Oliver-Tom Schliemann (GER-1001) zeigte pünktlich zur Deutschen Meisterschaft Topform und sicherte sich den vierten Platz. Der in der Disziplin Racing führende Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24) aus Dänemark lief hier nur auf Platz fünf ein. Durch seinen Erfolg im Slalom machte Langer auch in der Overallwertung einen großen Sprung nach vorne. Nach dem ersten Tag schien die Chance auf eine erfolgreiche Titelverteidigung nach Platz vier im Racing in unerreichbare Ferne zu rücken. Platz vier im Racing und Platz eins im Slalom addieren sich für Langer auf fünf Punkte. Ebenfalls auf fünf Punkte kommen aber auch Nico Prien mit Platz zwei im Racing und Platz drei im Slalom und Gunnar Asmussen mit Platz drei in Racing und Platz zwei im Slalom. Nur aufgrund der Tiebreak-Regelung kann sich Langer für den Moment die Führung im Kampf um den DM-Titel sichern. Direkt dahinter folgt der Däne Kornum, der mit Platz eins im Racing und Platz fünf im Slalom auf sechs Punkte kommt. Doch all diese Rechenspiele sind nur Momentbetrachtungen. Denn es wird weitere Rennen geben, so dass der Kampf um die Deutsche Meisterschaft im Windsurfen aufs härteste tobt. Der Multivan Surf Cup Sylt gastiert noch bis zum Sonntag in Westerland auf Sylt.

Das 87l Board rundet die Range nun nach unten ab, denn besonders bei den Kids steht der „Flare“ ganz oben auf der Wunschliste. Erst vor wenigen Tagen ging beispielsweise das komplette Podium des „U-16 Contest“ der European Freestyle Pro Tour auf Lanzarote an Starboard Fahrer. Mit nur 60cm Breite und ultra kompakter Outline (210cm Länge) war der Flare 87 ursprünglich nur für die „next generation“ gedacht, doch auch alle anderen Fahrer werden bei  Starkwind die Vorzüge dieser Freestyle Maschine zu schätzen wissen. Nehmt also einen dicken roten Stift und streicht die Tage vom 01. - 08. Sept. 2018 fett an und legt weder Geburtstagsfeiern, Hochzeiten noch sonstige unwichtige Ereignisse auf diese 9 Tage.

Denn über diese 9 Tage gibt es nur ein Ziel: Fehmarn/Orth an der Ostsee!

Schon seit Wochen bereiten sich Deutschlandweit die Teilnehmer für die  Meisterschaft im Speedwindsurfen vor. Das Material wird gecheckt und ausgelotet. Der ein oder andere Speeder führt noch sein letztes Qualifikationsrennen durch, um beim alljährlichen Event im September auf Fehmarn im Fischerdörfchen Orth, sich mit den Schnellsten zu messen.

Vom 01. bis 08. September 2018 lassen rasende Geschwindigkeiten das Blut der Zuschauer gefrieren. Auf einem festgelegten Kurs, bei hoffentlich tosenden Winden, heißt es wieder an der Spitze mithalten zu wollen. Die Länge einer Strecke beträgt 250 oder 500m, auf der per GPS-Gerät die Höchstleistungen gemessen werden. Mehrere Rennen werden innerhalb einer Woche gefahren, um am Ende dann den Deutschen Meister im Speedwindsurfen zu küren.

Für Interessierte Speeder, die immer schon mal testen wollten welche Geschwindigkeiten sie unter Regattabedingungen wirklich fahren können,  besteht wie jedes Jahr die Möglichkeit als Gastfahrer für zehn Euro pro Tag teilzunehmen. GPS-Geräte stellt der Verein nach Absprache leihweise zur Verfügung.

Das Surfervölkchen wird wieder die Orther Reede bunt beleben. Alle Neugierigen können neben dem täglichen Materialmarkt, Geheimtipps vom Profi, Seminaren an windfreien Tagen und Funraces, dieses Jahr auch einen neuen Höhepunkt, die Surfer-Party am Kap Orth am 07.09.2018 ab 19 Uhr miterleben.

Nun auf, wir sehen uns in der Woche ab dem 1. September in der Orther Bucht auf Fehmarn zur Deutschen Meisterschaft im Speedwindsurfen.

Das diesjährige Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival markierte das 30-jährige Jubiläum des PWA World Cups auf Gran Canaria und mit Pozo Izquierdo hätte es keinen passenderen Ort geben können, der für Winde in Sturmstärke sorgt - mehr als 50 Knoten an mehreren Tagen - plus Wellen jeden Tag, um es den radikalsten Wavesurfern der Welt zu ermöglichen, unglaubliche Performance auf dem Wasser und in der Luft zu zeigen. Die Action der letzten 7 Tagen war phänomenal und auf extrem hohem Niveau, aber am Ende stehen Daida Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) und Philip Köster (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) ganz oben auf dem Podium. Wave Women’s Having won every year in Pozo Izquierdo since 2000 - apart from 2012 - Daida Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) - entered the 2018 Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival as the undoubted favourite, and she showed why she has been so dominant here over the course of her career as Daida produced one of her best performances in recent years during the double elimination final against - Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) to further enhance her reputation as the Queen of Pozo. Daida admitted that she may have been feeling the pressure before the final with Offringa sailing better than ever, but she never showed any signs of it as she gave a jumping masterclass with a massive regular backloop, one-handed backloop all the way, one-footed backloop, tweaked pushloop and a trademark stalled forward all being landed in a faultless performance. Victory here also sees Daida head to the top of the overall rankings. Offringa, meanwhile equals her best result here since 2016 after managing to gain one position in the double elimination as she first ended Lina Erpenstein’s (Severne / Severne Sails) comeback, before claiming an impressive victory against reigning world champion - Iballa Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) to move into 2nd place. The Aruban only managed to finished 5th here last year, but after two, second places so far this season, the 27-year-old is firmly in contention for the title with two events to go as she is currently tied on 19,800 points with the Moreno twins. Iballa Moreno may be slightly disappointed to have slipped one position from the single elimination, but even so, she remains firmly in contention for a 5th consecutive world title. Iballa had her chances against Offringa - only needing a second wave score of 4.25 points or better - but very uncharacteristically for her, she struggled to find that second wave score, when normally it is her wave riding that sets her apart. Still, Iballa will head into Tenerife in joint 1st place and she hasn’t finished outside the top 2 since 2011, while also recording 3 victories during that time. Lina Erpenstein managed to fight back to 4th place in the double elimination after winning 4 heats on the bounce against - Oda Johanne (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins), Maaike Huvermann (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins), who finishes in joint 7th, Nayra Alonso (Fanatic / Severne), and finally Justyna Sniady (Simmer / Simmer Sails / AL360), who finishes in 5th place, but broke into the top 4 of the single elimination for the first time, before Sarah-Quita Offringa brought her comeback to an end.  Meanwhile, Nayra Alonso and Steffi Wahl (Sailloft Hamburg) both impressed throughout and produced a great comeback through the double elimination - before meeting each other in the battle for 6th and 7th - due to their seeding. Alonso came out on top on that occasion, but you can expect to see Wahl pushing for the top 5 and beyond in Tenerife - where wave riding is often more important than jumping - and she really impressed with that. Men’s Köster A Different Monster 4-time world champion - Philip Köster (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) - made an extremely impressive start to the season, as he goes in search of world title No.5, by remaining unbeaten in the opening event of the year and looking very confident and dangerous throughout. And while Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing) may have come to within just 0.31 of a point of forcing a Super Final, it almost looks like Köster just has another gear waiting if he needs it. Through the contest, Köster produced incredibly jumping and wave riding and barely put a foot wrong. In the final, he landed a massive stalled double, pushloop forward and even pulled the trigger on the triple loop - which he wasn’t far off landing and he would be a hard man to bet against for winning the 2018 Men’s PWA Wave World Championship. Victory here also means he is now tied on 6 event victories with Victor Fernandez.  Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing) makes the best start to a season on the PWA Wave World Tour after negotiating his way into the finals in Gran Canaria for the first time in his career. The Brazilian has finished 3rd overall for the last two seasons and seems to have found the formula to blend brilliance and consistency, which makes him a very difficult proposition to beat. Browne landed perfect double forwards throughout, while he was also one of just 6 or 7 sailors to land a pushloop forward, which looks like it may become as vital as the double forward if wanting to challenge for top honours.  At one stage it looked like Ricardo Campello (Point-7) may come all the way back through the double elimination and challenge Philip Köster for the event title, however, he was eventually stopped by his good friend Marcilio Browne - with Browne winning the heat with his final wave. Campello defeated Dieter van der Eyken (Severne / Severne Sails), Adam Lewis (Fanatic / Duotone / SWOX), Jaeger Stone (Starboard / Severne / SWOX / Shamal Sunglasses) and Alex Mussolini (RRD / RRD Sails), before overcoming his nemesis Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Duotone / Shamal Sunglasses) for the first time ever in Pozo Izquierdo. Campello’s epic comeback was finally brought to an end leaving him to settle for an excellent 3rd place, which is his best start to a season since 2014. Campello has the potential to be Köster’s biggest rival and he looks even more focused this year. For the first time since 2005, Victor Fernandez misses out on the podium in Pozo Izquierdo. Coming into this year's Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival, Fernandez was looking to continue an incredible run of 6x first places and 5x second places, but it wasn’t to be, and against Campello - in the battle for 3rd and 4th - Fernandez looked flustered, which is virtually unheard of. Up until that point, Fernandez was the only sailor in the top 3 (single elimination) to have reached that far without landing a pushloop forward, but he was eventually caught out with Campello claiming a decisive victory. Even during the heat, Fernandez attempted a couple of pushloop forwards, and straight after the contest finished he was seen training and looked to be upping his intensity to learn this move… knowing that it may virtually become a necessity if he wants to keep contending for both event and overall titles - especially when 2 jumps or more are counting. Alex Mussolini (RRD / RRD Sails) is the only other member of the top 6 here not to have landed a pushloop forward and the Spaniard walks away with 5th place in Pozo. Mussolini landed trademark one-hand, one-foot backloops in the single elimination, while his wave riding was exquisite as always as he defeated Eric Sanllehy (Goya Windsurfing), Dieter van der Eyken and Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / Duotone) to move into the top 4 - before Campello relegated him to 5th. Jaeger Stone finishes the double elimination in 6th place after defeating Marc Paré (Simmer / Simmer Sails) and Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo, while losing out to Campello by just 0.69 of a point. The Australian excelled with his powerful and dynamic wave riding earning 4 wave scores of 7.75, 8.62, 8.10 and 7.75 from 6 waves, but crucially couldn’t land a push forward in these conditions to keep his hopes alive this time around - although you could see he wanted it with his final jump attempt. If Stone can learn to land push forwards in a wider variety of conditions then there is no doubt he would be a genuine title contender as his wave riding is second to none. Stone also landed the highest scoring jump of the contest, as the judges broke the scale, with an insane pushloop forward, which earned 11 points.  If you’d have offered Adam Lewis a guaranteed 7th place at the start of the week he’d have probably taken it - equalling his performance here from last year. But the Brit, who enjoyed his best season to date in 2016 - 5th overall - has shown that he’s not content with that and may be slightly disappointed that only a last-second wave by Campello denied him a place in the top 6 or better. Lewis regularly produces some of the highest wave scores on the tour, while he seems to have the double forward on lock, and he’ll be an even bigger threat in Tenerife - where he finished in the top 4 of the single elimination in 2017.  Gollito Estredo finishes in equal 7th place alongside Lewis with the 8-time PWA Freestyle World Champion earning his first top 10 finish in the waves and showing that he is going to be a major threat, not only for the rest of the season but in years to come and there won't be too many people wanting to face him. The top 10 is completed by Marc Paré Rico (ESP - Simmer / Simmer Sails), Robby Swift (GBR - JP / NeilPryde / SWOX), Dieter Van der Eyken (BEL - Severne / Severne Sails) and Dany Bruch (GER - Bruch Boards / Flight Sails / AL360 / Shamal Sunglasses). Youth’s  The Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival also hosted the second stop on the Youth PWA Wave World Tour and they showed that windsurfing is in safe hands with a set of extremely impressive performances.
